Scott C. Denison, PE, Consulting Petroleum Engineer
Scott Denison has 50 years experience in many phases of the producing side of the oil and gas business. His engineering experience spans the technology of oil and gas reservoirs such as decline curve analysis, interpretations, and waterflood predictions; and, well completions, artificial lift and well workover techniques, production equipment, pipelines, gas compressors and pump stations in South America, the North Sea, Texas, Louisiana, and the Offshore Gulf of Mexico.
He was Staff Engineer with Tenneco Oil Co. and Houston Oil International, he initiated projects that increased production from many wells operated by an affiliate company in Colombia, South America using high and very high volume (VHV) lift methods.
Mr. Denison was project manager at Houston Oil & Minerals, Inc. for offshore facilities, gas compressor stations, waterflood facilities, and oil pipeline pumping systems on the Texas Gulf Coast and in Colombia. With Shell, he was directly responsible for improving artificial lift, controlling corrosion, and design of high pressure well completions and selection of critical tubulars and components for gas condensate well completions.
His recent work has included the economic evaluation of drilling and completion for low permeability oil formations and the comparison of horizontal drilling to vertical drilling; the evaluation of a production enhancement opportunity in South America, on going well performance improvement of six wells on a twenty year old Gulf of Mexico platform; and, development of computer models for economic appraisal of oil and gas properties for purchase or sale.
Mr. Denison is a Registered Professional Engineer in Texas, a 35 year member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE). He co-authored a paper for the A.S.M.E. Petroleum Division in 1985 that received the Louis Jacobson Award as "Most Outstanding Paper" among 500 submitted that year. Mr Denison is ranked number two in the Texas Section of the United States Tennis Association for seniors mens 60.
Mr. Denison holds a B.A. and B.S. in Mechanical Engineering, Rice University, 1953 and 1954. He has also attended numerous industry courses on oil and gas production technology, with a particular focus on drilling engineering and artificial lift.
